In the last year GALE had the services of 17 community bakers. They kept our Community Cafe stocked with everything you could wish to have with a cuppa.
Our bakers were paid £24,766. That’s money which goes around all our communities, not just Gairloch. Fifty-seven percent of the cafe bakers live outside Gairloch – in Poolewe and Aultbea.
GALE’s benefit to the wider area doesn’t stop there. Recent analysis of our impact found the following figures which demonstrate the reach of our work outwith Gairloch.
- 46% of our staff team live in Poolewe and Aultbea
- 35% of our art and craft suppliers are based in Poolewe, Aultbea and Kinlochewe
- 49% of our advertisers (accommodation, activity providers etc) are based in Poolewe, Aultbea and Kinlochewe
- 60% of our volunteers are from Poolewe and Aultbea.
