GALE in Numbers – Local Producers

GALE supports 52 local producers and suppliers

As a Social Enterprises, GALE can create employment, provide services and use profits to create positive social change.

By being an anchor institution, GALE spreads the wealth that we generate through a local first approach. In 2022 we paid £27,431 pounds to 52 local producers and suppliers.

Milk and bread purchased for the Community Café made The Pier Shop our second largest supplier. The Perfume Studio’s luxury handmade soaps helped the Studio top the local suppliers charts in 2022.

Our local producers and businesses range from authors to artists, from small to medium-sized enterprises to sole traders. Each is important to the local economy’s effect on our lives – financially, socially, environmentally. As these aspects are all linked they also impact on our health.

Through a local first approach to goods and services, GALE assists financially and provides an outlet for creativity. The onward benefits to our health are an additional bonus.

We have only highlighted two of the local businesses here but know that we are grateful that all 52 choose to partner with GALE
