Seed Swap
We are keen to promote Community Growing and ‘Grow Your Own’. Let’s grow produce for all to share, to encourage positive, healthy outdoor activities, and celebrate community connections within the Gairloch and Loch Ewe areas.
What can I do to help?
Can you pledge space at home on a windowsill or in a greenhouse? Help to take our Seed Swap to the next level, germinate and nurture seedlings for planting in community spaces. Let’s provide the community with fruit, vegetables, salads, and herbs, and grow something fresh for the Community Café at GALE too.
What do I need?
Just a little warm, light space to nurture seedlings. Our seed swap is an opportunity for gardeners to organise their seed collections and get rid of the ones they don’t want. They can also use the event to pick up seeds that they do want to grow. In all, it’s a win-win for gardeners and reduces wastage and cost. Our event is about giving seeds a chance to grow, saving money on buying new seeds, creating an opportunity to pick up new varieties, and thus enabling us all to grow a more diverse range of plants in our gardens or window boxes.
Help us to spread the word
Please also spread the Community Growing word and encourage friends and neighbours to get involved. You can also join our ‘GALE Community Growing’ page on Facebook to keep up to date with what’s happening.
