Join us for an inspiring evening with local author Andrew Goss as he delves into the “Power of the Pen – a Novel Approach” on Friday, 21st November at 7pm in the Shieling. This event promises an engaging exploration of storytelling’s profound impact, with the added pleasure of mingling over drinks as the bar remains open until last orders at 9pm.
Andrew Goss’s journey is as compelling as the stories he weaves. A former print journalist, aid worker, and humanitarian reporter, Andrew has traversed the globe, living in places like Pakistan where he supported the aid and development sector. His experiences form the backbone of his novels, providing a voice to communities often overlooked.
The evening will kick off with a short presentation about Andrew’s writing journey and his approach to storytelling. Attendees will then be treated to a reading from one of his evocative books, offering a glimpse into worlds shaped by his travels and insights. Following the reading, there will be an opportunity for questions and a casual chat in a relaxed atmosphere.
Andrew will have copies of his novels for sale at the event, and he graciously offers to sign them free of charge – an opportunity not to be missed for fans and new readers alike.
His debut novel, “The Humanitarian,” draws from his experiences in Pakistan after the devastating 2005 earthquake, while his latest work, “Cold Coffee in Asmara,” published in March 2024, paints a vivid picture of life in northeast Africa, exploring themes of poverty, inequality, and cultural intersections.
Now residing in the serene landscape of Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands, Andrew focuses on his writing with renewed passion, driven by a vision of a more equitable world where voices from the least heard communities resonate globally.
