For the past few months GALE has been working with an enthusiastic group of volunteers who are passionate about improving the standard of living of elderly and disabled people in our area.
Their main focus is the loan of wheelchairs and mobility aids with related advice and training in their use. With this in mind the group has called themselves GAMS – Gairloch Aid & Mobility Support.
Considerable funds will need to be raised in order to purchase the mobility aids. A team of volunteers successfully completed the Great Wilderness Challenge in August to help kick start the fundraising efforts and we’ve all been delighted at the level of support and the generous donations already contributed even at this early stage of the project.
