Iona Wison – Shieling Project Development Manager
Iona serves as the Shieling Project Development Manager at GALE, where she is responsible for orchestrating a series of pilot projects aimed at maximising the potential of the Shieling space. Her role involves evaluating the outcomes of this initial utilisation to support GALE in developing long-term strategies for the site.
With a diverse background in both small businesses and the hospitality industry, Iona brings a meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills to her work. Her primary focus is to ensure that the Shieling becomes a vibrant and valuable asset to the community. Holding an MSc in Anthropology and Planetary Health, she is eager to witness community development theories in practice and contribute to sustainable, community-owned growth. Growing up in the Highlands, Iona finds great fulfilment in working within a Highland community, embracing the opportunity to settle into life on the stunning west coast.
In addition to her professional endeavours, Iona is passionate about individual and community wellbeing. She is a certified yoga teacher and continuously seeks ways to enhance environmental wellbeing in her work and daily life. An outdoor enthusiast, Iona enjoys exploring the natural landscape by bike and is also an avid artist, often merging her love for cycling and painting to capture the breathtaking scenes she encounters along her journeys.
