The GALE Centre Community Café is partnering with Gairloch High to bring you a Soup & Pudding Lunch on Thursday 26th January between 11:30 and 13:30.
We are really pleased to have the support of Julie Brady’s S1 Hospitality Class, who are helping our community with the Cost of Living crisis by partnering GALE’s ‘Pay What You Can’ offering for food and drink.
In the week before, the hospitality class will get the opportunity to work with our Catering Manager, Pam, who will guide them through the food preparation. Under Pam and Julie’s guidance they will also be running service on the day. So don’t be surprised to see a few younger faces taking orders and working in the kitchen.
Please show your support for them by coming to The GALE Centre on Thursday 26th January.
The event is running as part of our Pay What You Can offering. If you want to pay normal prices, they will be displayed on your ticket, if you want to pay more to support the work of GALE, it will be gratefully received, but if you’re financially struggling off the back of the cost of living crisis, and can’t afford to pay, there is no need to do anything. Just enjoy the warmth, the food and the company. Leave when you are ready to do so. It’s that simple!
Janet Miles, Managing Director, says “It’s great to be working alongside the High School students. They are advancing their skills and giving something back to our community at the same time. That has to be a win-win position. We have had good uptake of the Pay what You Can initiative so far, with both subsidised and free meals being made available. Thanks to everyone who has kindly donated to help the scheme run as long as possible. We believe this is a very important community undertaking. It gives the opportunity for our community to not only have somewhere warm to sit and have something to eat, but also be able to do it at a cost which is affordable to everyone. At a time when so many are struggling, the importance of being able to socialise and spend quality time with friends should not be underestimated.”
The GALE Centre Community Café is open seven days a week, with the ‘Pay What You Can’ scheme running daily except Monday and Wednesday. On Monday and Wednesday, there are similar alternative options already running at the Community Hall and Gairloch Museum.
