The Diaspora Tapestry is an international celebrating all the countries that Scots have settled in and the culture they took with them. In Gairloch and Loch Ewe we will be completing one of the panels of this tapestry which will tour Scotland and be on display in Gairloch in 2015. The Loch Ewe panel depicts the Russian Arctic Convoy. Stitching began around a week ago when the panel arrived in Gairloch and a regular group of stitchers will meet on Tuesdays at 2.30pm and Saturdays at 10.30am to work on the project. They are using blues, reds, greens and greys and different stitch types to bring the design to life. As a community project, we would like as many people as possible to add their own contribution of a few stitches. Please come along and join in – no previous experience is needed!
