As part of the Wester Ross Biosphere Dark Skies Festival running in November, The GALE Centre is pleased to host a mini-series of lectures from Dr Alec MacKinnon.
 

On the 9th, he will ask, ‘Why is the Sky Dark at Night?’ A seemingly simple question that nonetheless leads to modern ideas of an ancient evolving Universe.

On the 11th, we hit the weekend, so what better than ‘A Night with the Stars’. Alec will talk broadly about the night sky, how it changes and what we can see in the Autumn sky. Both evenings will have a little extra time for interaction. Ever wanted to know the difference between a star and a planet? Now’s your chance to ask.
 

Clear skies permitting, there should be the opportunity to view the sky through Alec’s telescope. Feel free to bring your telescope or binoculars.
