You are taking a genuine part of Gairloch’s ‘Overside’ with you to wear with pride and pleasure. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do, offering it to you.

Sustainable, 100% real Highland wool from free-roaming sheep in the crofting community of Gairloch’s ‘Overside local villages Redpoint, South Erradale, Opinan, Porthenderson, and Badachro. Hand-spun locally by dedicated artisans whose mission is to highlight the benefits of the luxurious wool of the area and the breeds they come from while supporting local charities in our community. Our unique blends of yarn may include wool from local breeds like North Country White and Black Cheviots, Scottish Blackface, Zvartbles and Shetland-, Texel- & Blue-faced Leicester (BFL) mixes.

Note: Due to the natural product used in production, please expect some colour variation from the image shown. Colours range from light grey to dark brown.

Product Care

To care for your handcrafted wool or garment, there is usually no need to wash it, just let it dry naturally if it gets wet or even sweaty. Agitation of the fibres causes wool to felt. So if you do wash it, no rubbing — or too much squeezing. Rapid change from hot to cold water can felt the wool as well: gently hand wash in tepid water and a non-enzyme soap, soak first if needed. Gently rinse in tepid water. Wrap the item in a towel and squeeze water out (don't twist!), then flat dry.
